CONTRAINDICATIONS TO LENS WEAR OCULAR REASONS Binocular problems If the patient requires horizontal prism, this can not be supplied in contact lenses, therefore may be a contraindication to CL wear. However, in some cases where small amounts of prism are required in spectacles the patient may do fine without it in contact lenses. Presumably due to better peripheral fusion and fewer aberrations. Strabismic patients A strabismic patient who does not have a cosmetic problem when wearing spectacles may be very disappointed when wearing contact lenses because the strabismus is more noticeable.
